Introduction


The Sabre Design Team and Jim Taylor Yacht Design have again joined forces to create a new Sabre sailing yacht. The Sabre 386 was launched in January 2004 and in October 2004 was awarded Cruising World Magazine’s Boat of the Year Award as Best Mid-sized Performance Cruiser as well as Overall Domestic Boat of the Year.

Sabre’s attention to detail is well known. Whether it be the style and grace of her shear, the intricate details of a deck tooling blending comfort, safety and good looks, or the details found in the hand crafted interior joinery, Sabre Yachts stands alone in quality and reputation.

The Sabre 386 embraces the standards which have put Sabre’s name atop the quality spectrum of boatbuilding for the last 35 years. Current Sabre owners and those who have followed the brand over time, will see details here which make it feel familiar. Details which make sense, which add to comfort, security and well being. Logical details that, above all, make each Sabre design a great, safe and beautiful sailboat.

But details from the past are just part of the story. Keeping up with technology has to go hand in hand with our desire to build the finest possible sailing yachts for our clients. The Sabre 386 hull is built using vacuum bagged, closed cell, cross linked PVC Divinycell foam and structural E Glass, which gives her one of the strongest, lightest, most durable structures available today. Her deck is also cored with Divinycell.

Hull LinesHull lines, underwater appendages and rigs were drawn by Jim Taylor Yacht Design. The deck, deck styling and interior were accomplished by the Sabre Design Team. The result is a yacht which, like her siblings, will establish a benchmark in sailing that will endure for many years to come.

  • Single unit, vacuum bagged E glass, cored with Airex
    closed cell PVC foam .
  • ISO NPG gelcoat.
  • Below waterline chopped strand glass and vinylester resin
    as a back up for ISO NPG gelcoat.

  • Double boot and single cove stripes.
  • Bulkheads, berth faces, shelves and floor stringers
    laminated to hull providing integral, structural strength.

DECK

  • Single unit, Resin infused with Airex core for stiffness,
    and High density PVC core in high stress areas.
  • The deck is fastened to the hull using stainless steel thru
    bolts.

STEERING SYSTEM

  • Edson wheel steering with 40” five spoke Comfort Grip
    Destroyer wheel, guard and brake.
  • Ritchie SP5 compass mounted in binnacle.

  • Balanced rudder is molded fiberglass bonded to a carbon
    fiber rudder post passing through a removable UHMW
    bearing and support tube securely laminated to the hull.

    vibration and noise.

  • Complete engine access through sound and heat insulated

    are recessed in cockpit face.

KEEL

  • A modern fin keel cast in lead with antimony added for
    strength
  • Thru-bolted to a reinforced keel sump with stainless steel
    bolts and bronze nuts

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

  • Four (3- house and one engine start) 12-volt 110 amp
    group 31 deep cycle marine batteries with sealed 2 position
    battery switch.
  • 110V shore power system with GFI protection and 50 foot
    shorepower cord
  • 50 amp marine battery charger
  • Master AC/DC Bass 6200 marine circuit breaker panels
    (black) located at the chart table, include AC/DC volt and
    ammeters, and polarity indicator. Space is provided for
    additional breakers and electronic gear.
  • 12V outlet at chart table

  • All wiring is tinned, color coded and meets USCG
    standards.

VENTILATION AND LIGHT

  • 5 Lewmar polished Ocean Series deck hatches with
    Ocean Air blinds/screens.

DECK HARDWARE

  • Inboard genoa tracks are 1 1/4″ x 3/16″ x 12′ aluminum Ttrack.
  • Inboard tracks recessed into the deck tooling.
  • Inboard tracks supplied with end stops and one Lewmar
    lead block. Swivel block lead to winch.
  • Custom stainless steel fore, mid-rail and aft corner
    chocks.
  • Stainless steel cowl vents (2)
  • Five part main sheet with Lewmar blocks led to Harken
    recirculating Torlon ball bearing cabin top traveler
  • Mast collar with provision for halyard and turning block
    attachments.

    – Self-draining foredeck divided (spilt) anchor locker with
    drain and pad eye for anchor rode.
  • Pulpit, stern rail and stanchions are custom fabricated of
    type 316 stainless steel and thru-bolted with backing plates.

    port and starboard boarding gates with braced stanchions.

requests must be received six weeks prior to molding of the hull to assure availability.
All Sabre sailing yachts are covered by a LIMITED ONE YEAR WARRANTY.
This warranty should be thoroughly reviewed by the customer before a purchase agreement is made.
Please contact your dealer for details.
Sabre does not guaranty the durability of dark gelcoats. Hulls built with dark colors will fade more
quickly than light colors, will show mold imperfections and scratches and can cause the laminate to
post cure, causing a cosmetic distortion of the surface. These deformations are not structural
in nature and therefore are not covered by the Sabre Limited Warranty.

Colors


Note: All colors shown as accurately as possible. Dark colors available with the understanding that they require extra maintenance, show minor mold imperfections, scratches, and will fade much more rapidly than lighter colors. Our limited warranty does not cover these conditions.
