Description

For many years, Maine-based Sabre has been responding to the needs and desires of sophisticated, knowledgeable boaters by combining cutting-edge marine technology with classic Downeast styling. The Sabre Salon Express 42 has been  one of their most successful designs.  The 42 offers high performance and ease of handling due to the Cummins Zeus joystick controlled drive system.  This elegant coastal-cruising package is perfect for a couple and will easily accommodate the occasional overnight guest or two.

The 42 rides on a modern planing hull constructed with VIP resin-infused laminate and Corecell foam coring, the hull is fast, sea-kindly, and ruggedly built. Like the hull, the deck is infused resin with the addition of molded in anti-skid surfaces. The Salon Express has large stainless-steel perimeter rails, handholds and wide side decks making for a safe passage forward to the foredeck. Entered through the transom door, the cockpit is spacious and features L-shaped seating as well as an aft facing seat with a pedestal mounted cherry table. A canvas awning provides shade when desired for the cockpit seating.  The pod drives and generator are easily accessed via cockpit deck hatches.

Moving into the salon/helm deck there is an L-settee to port with an inlaid folding salon table. A two-person settee is to starboard with storage underneath. There are drop-down windows to port and starboard and an LED television on an electric lift. The electric sunroof combined with opening windows and doors lends a wonderful open, airy feeling to the helm deck.  Of course this area is air conditioned and heated as well. The helm features two Stidd chairs, all helm deck seating is Ultraleather covered as is the wrap on the helm/navigation pod.  The helm pod holds a full suite of Raymarine electronics as described below.

Forward of the salon and a few steps down and to port is the galley, which has ample storage in lockers and below the galley sole. For ventilation there is a stainless steel port light over the galley. A couple of steps down from the mid-level galley there is a convertible dinette that is perfect breakfast nook with facing seats, inlaid table, and TV.  The dinette is easily converted to a large guest berth, a sliding curtain provides privacy making this a really versatile area. The master stateroom is forward and has a queen-size island berth with storage underneath. There is private access to the shared head from the master cabin, as well as plenty of shelves, drawers, and cedar-lined hanging lockers for storage.

Immaculate is an overused and often inaccurate description.  In this case it's accurate and appropriate, this Sabre is in exceptional condition throughout.  You will not find a cleaner, better equipped, or more well maintained example.  

Her owners have owned a number of Sabre sail and power boats - their experience and care is evident throughout.  Highly recommended!
